Humboldt Concrete Maturity Sensor System – Our complete maturity sensor system utilizes CMOTS to provide a wireless and reusable system for continuous monitoring of concrete temperatures, maturity and strengths by computer, phone or tablet.
SmartRock2 Wireless Maturity Sensor – This rugged, mobile app-based sensor continuously monitors concrete temperatures from fresh to hardened stage. It’s also used to estimate strength based on the maturity concept.
Unit weight – Humboldt provides measures, strike-off plates and scales that support ASTM C29, C138, C192 standards for accurate measurement of the unit weight of concrete, a key step in determining strength, workability, and durability.
Self-consolidating concrete – Humboldt offers a range of tools to measure the fluidity and rapid assessment of static segregation resistance, in line with ASTM C1621, C1621M, C1611 standards on of self-consolidating concrete.
Flexural Beam Testing
Flexural tests evaluate a concrete sample’s flexural strength, also known as the modulus of rupture – the amount of applied force required to cause a concrete specimen to fail. Flexural tests measure a combination of three types of stress – compressive, tensile and shear.
Flexural tests on concrete are performed two ways. Center-point load tests (ASTM C293) concentrates stress at the sample’s center point, while three-point load tests (ASTM C78) apply force uniformly to the middle one-third of the specimen. Center-point load tests typically show results 10 to 15 percent higher than three-point test results.
Humboldt Flexural Test Solutions
Humboldt offers a wide range of flexural test methods, including compression machines designed specifically for flexural tests, and hydraulically driven portable continuous load machines for field testing beam cross-sections. In addition, beam attachments can be mounted to all of our HCM-0030 compression machines. We also provide a wide selection of beam testing equipment and accessories from several manufacturers.
Portable Concrete Beam Tester (ASTM C293) for 6" x 6" beams of 16" to 18" in length - hydraulically driven beam breaker uses the center-point loading method. Adding a micro-pump provides a continuous load pressure to the testing procedure in accordance with ASTM C293 and ASTM C78.
H-3031CL Continuous-Load Beam Breaker (ASTM C293) for 4" x 4" x 14" beams - To enable quick and accurate measurement of flexural strength, the H-3031CL incorporates a screw jack that provides a continuous application of force against the test beam.
Compression Tests
Compression tests reveal the compressive strength of a concrete structure by applying force sufficient to crush the sample. Compressive strength is a primary consideration in design and construction of concrete structures.

Non Destructive Testing
Non-destructive testing (NDT) of concrete provides ways to monitor the condition of concrete structures without permanently altering the concrete in the process. Various NDT tests use sound, vibration, radar and ultrasonic waves to identify the effects of time, weather and geological factors on the condition of concrete buildings and infrastructure.
Various non-destructive test procedures are conducted using different tools. Schmidt hammers, or Swiss hammers, measure properties of elasticity such as surface hardness and penetration resistance. Ground penetrating radar systems are used to measure the thickness of sub-surface concrete, and to locate cable and other steel objects embedded in the concrete.
Rebar locators use the eddy current pulse induction principle to identify rebar in reinforced concrete, which is critical prior to drilling or cutting, and can used for corrosion analysis. Corrosion testers are used to detect corrosion before the expanding rust exerts pressure inside the concrete, causing it to expand, crack and damage the surrounding concrete.
Ultrasonic testing of concrete is an in-situ test to measure the thickness of concrete and tunnel linings, and to determine localized defects such as voids and honeycombing and delaminations. Ultrasonic testing is also used to detect objects like pipes and tendon ducts beyond the rebar layer. Resistivity meters use data from use electrodes (pins) and test leads to measure earth resistance, or the resistance to earth of a buried electrode, such as a ground rod or an anode.
Humboldt offers a complete line of non-destructive test equipment for concrete testing in the field and lab. Our NDT products conform to ASTM C805, ACI 318, ASTM C876, ASTM C597, AASHTO T358.
